Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam, her mother was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. When she was five years old, of age, her dad landed a position as a curator of the city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historic landmark. The 2005 graduate of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was the vocal music instructor. Sullivan started singing as a contralto with the kids' choir, before joining after a couple of years, she joined the adult group. His exposure to secular music was at first sporadic "I performed solo at the church, and I was asked to be a part of an evangelical label when I was 11, but I was not yet ready," she recalls. "Then the time came that McDonald's had a competition for kids in major cities and I was offered the chance to sing 'Accept What God Wills' on Showtime in the Apollo and the audience was very enthusiastic". She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday celebration at thirteen. Sullivan signed her first contract with Jive Records when she was 15. In Jive Records, she made an entire album, but the album wasn't released. Sullivan was eventually removed from the label. They had a strong working partnership to Missy Elliott. Elliott produced some of her tracks which included "Backstabbers", which was produced by Timbaland.
